New Site Opening
Hey there anime fans!
Welcome to the remnants of Anime Obsessions. Most likely you are here to inquire about the new site that I will be opening, so without further ado, here is what you need to know.
As of this morning, I have started helping a friend of mine clean up his servers, and as it turns out there is a lot of available space. The servers are no longer being used for new accounts, but instead will be used only for backup purposes for accounts that are currently being used, but cannot expand. So, my friend has agreed to allow me free use of the available space. After cleaning up about 500GB of one server, there is about 50GB of space available (about 10%). If that is the case for the rest of the servers, then I should eventually, in about 3 months have a total of about 10TB available, which is the equivalent of 10240GB.
I will not end up using that much space, but if I really need it then it will be there. Most likely I will only use about 2TB, which by myself will take a while to encode/upload. Since I will only be getting a little bit of space at a time, I will upload the files as HQ RMVB files. The way that the servers are set up right now I will not be able to host the donators' media on them, so I will have to find another server for that media.
As far as the site goes, I had a site nearly done, but then I moved and reformatted some of my HDs, so I lost the site code. Therefore, I will be making a temporary site using PHPNuke, to allow access to the first files I put up, and then once I am done with the new site I will upload it and use that site. As far as registering, you will be required to register for the temporary site, and then later the official site when it is done. The site will be on a domain that I have already registered, which is not a free server, so there will not be any ads like on this site. The remporary site should be up in about 2 weeks.
There will be no cost to download, and the downloads will be unlimited, as long as people dont get crazy. If they do then i will throttle the download speed, which as of now is set at 100%, meaning really fast.

New Site Update
Hello Everyone!
I just wanted to let you all know that I have been testing out a few of the servers, and it seems that everything should work out fairly well. The cleaning/backing up of the servers is going slow, but it will get done eventually.
As far as the progress for the new site goes, I will hopefully have the time to upload a new temporary site within the next few days, and will begin uploading some files to the servers and some free servers for your downloading pleasure. Also, out of consideration for the server owner (my friend) and his business partners, I have agreed to start the server speed off at 50Kb/s and then increase it as needed. This is to make sure that the server will be stable with the number of people accessing it, and not cause a crash. The speed should not matter though, because you will be able to download as many files as you want, all at one time. I tested the server out at 50Kb/s, and on a cable line was able to download 23 files in 32 minutes, and my friend, on a DSL line, far away from the server, was able to download 18 files in 30 minutes. So, if you start a lot of files all at one time and walk away, within 2-3 hours you could have upwards of 100 files.
I currently have well over 3000 files, so to let you get as many as possible, I am going to put them in HQ RMVB format, meaning AVI/MKV/OGM quality at 1/2 the size (about 75MB per file). As well, I have quite a few links for DDLs of many series in AVI/MKV/OGM format(s), which I will most likely post on the site.
It will take me a while to encode most of the files, so please bear with me, because starting a new site takes a lot of work and patience. And one last thing, I will try to post a list of what I currently have some time tomorrow, so that you all can request files to be put on the servers first, as well as request files for me to get.

Note - After looking at my program results, I ended up getting 123 files in 3.5 hours. No, I do not have that many files uploaded at the moment, I have a bunch of instances of the same files renamed via a script, so that I can test the downloads. |

Update
I have been working on the site layout and everything, and trying to get things worked out with the servers. Unfortunately, a family member died last week, and so I will not be able to do much on the site over the next week or two. I have asked a friend of mine to help me out, so hopefully he can.
In addition, I have to go out of town for 3-6 weeks to help out another family member, and will not have the internet availabe to me, so I will try to get the site up before I leave.
